Among a long list of other reasons, this crap. Republicrats, ugh.

Woo I'm going to be reimbursed $1,336.60 for my travel expenses to Pittsburgh. It's hard to realize how much money the government throws away to contractors until you see it first hand. That cost was just for me to get there, not including the training itself, all of which was simple enough to have been done via video conferencing. In a time of massive debt we're still spending like mad (we're at about 9.5 trillion [EDIT: using corporate accounting standards it's about 60 trillion], which compared to GDP is almost to WWII levels of debt). On the other hand, I probably wouldn't have this job if it weren't for all this government waste. :/

7/30/08 11:05 am - Easy work for nerds

Here's a small job for anybody interested...

"$20/hour, MS Access: tutor-me-by-phone. I will email the current design draft of *.mdb and ask you questions at a time in the afternoon mutually convenient. I live on an island a day's hard travel north of Seattle. I am a kind, gentle, old (IQ 165) Irishman. Start by sending me your resume relevant to MS Access.

Email Resume to: ---@---"

7/25/08 09:23 am - Ben Stein is a stupid smart person

Why we even let this guy open his dumb mouth I don't even know. I'm no Obama or McCain supporter, but I get tired of this kind of rhetoric being spouted by people with no authority to back their opinions. This guy really needs to stop Godwining himself to oblivion and just stick to what he's good at - economics.

I'm back from PITTsburgh doing training. I technically got back last night but I was too tired to do anything today until now. I didn't get to see much besides some of the south side which was full of bars and tattoo parlors. I was training with a design studio that was an offshoot of Maya so it was full of buzzwords and weird standards. I'm an "infocentric" man now. -_- There were useful parts, too, it's just interesting how different people view the same thing.

It's interesting...for the first time in my life I actually missed home. Not my actual home, of course, but the bay area and my friends. It's a satisfying feeling.

What the hell, someone came into my office and stole my walnuts! Now I don't have anything to snack on and I'm going to have to hide them next time. I'm very cross. >:[

7/9/08 04:41 pm - this one goes out to all you lonely lab rats out there...

I love pipetting, how about you?
Biolab work would have been so much more interesting if a boy band was serenading me while I did it. :D

7/7/08 10:21 am

Anyone know of a good stylist in the bay area? I want to change my hairstyle but I want to make sure it's done right and they'll be able to tell me how to maintain it properly. I have a few ideas in my head but I'm leaning towards a David Tennant look. :3

6/27/08 10:47 am - oil myths

Warning: this post is extremely nerdy. )

In other news, stocks are slipping months ahead of what I predicted. Maybe things are going to be worse than I thought...

6/24/08 04:24 pm - Pride?

Is anyone going to SF Pride this weekend? I can find other random furries to go with but I'd much rather go with people I know, too.

I'm posting this because I have a really bad stomach ache so I can't sleep. Looks like I'll probably work from home tomorrow. >.<

5/23/08 11:08 am - What a queer day

I left San Diego to avoid the fires and what do I find when I wake up? Tons of smoke from the Santa Cruz mountains, argh. My lungs are going to hate me so much.

Also, when I was driving to work today I saw a guy riding a huge unicycle. It was crazy, this guy was going 15 mph on this 3' diameter wheel and somehow stayed completely balanced. He had legs as big as my torso, too. It was the most impressive feat I've seen in a while.

5/15/08 10:30 am - CA gay marriage ban overturned

Finally. I'm not holding my breath for federal recognition anytime soon, though.

5/7/08 01:11 pm - Fanime?

Is anyone planning on going to Fanime? I wouldn't go alone but if other people are going I'll come along. :3
